Head of Planning, DDB New Zealand

Lucinda has been leading the planning charge at DDB for the last seven years.

Since beginning her career at BBH London, Lucinda has spent 25 years in the offices of The Leith Agency (Scotland), Young & Rubicam, Colenso BBDO and Saatchi & Saatchi building a strong strategic and creative planning background that has business change at its heart.

Lucinda believes that planners need to be ‘human provocateurs’ and that keen insight into human nature gives us the power to create ideas that provoke people to feel something. Because if we don’t, nothing will happen. It’s this belief that has helped to inspire some of the most distinctive and effective campaigns in this country.

With her at the strategic helm, DDB has held onto its title as New Zealand’s Most Effective Agency for the last two years.

Convenor of Judges

Lew is an independent Strategic Planner and Researcher who works directly with clients and with agencies to design marketing and communications programmes and solve problems, under his company Headlight.

Over the years he has spent time at Clemenger BBDO, M&C Saatchi and The Campaign Palace. He has also worked as a Business Development Consultant and is a former Research Director of one of New Zealand’s leading research companies.

Lew has developed a deep knowledge of what makes communication campaigns work by playing a strategic role on some of New Zealand’s classic campaigns such as: The National Bank, Absolutely Positively Wellington, New Zealand Transport Agency Road Safety, Beaurepaires Vince Martin, Mainland Cheese, 100% Pure New Zealand, Push Play, ASB’s Ira Goldstein and (going way back) Ansett New Zealand.

He has penned several winning Effie entries, commiserated with some that should have won, and judged many more.
